In 2011 then News Limited chairman and CEO John Hartigan proudly announced that News Limited was “the only organisation that really takes it up to the Government“. And how true that was. That all changed, however, in September 2013. It coincided of course with the change in government.

Now it would appear that News Limited is the only organisation that ensures the government gets a free ride.

You wouldn’t think that Steve was unemployed if you passed him in the street or sat next to him on public transport. He certainly does not fit the image of the ‘scruffy, lazy-stoner-living off-my-taxes’. He’s well groomed and neatly dressed. He looks like any other average office worker or salesman at the end of the day.

Why Do We Criminalise Love?

People are in a state of uproar over the notion of two human beings coming together in love, and yet when asked where they stand on Israel/Palestine, the destruction of the habitable biosphere, space travel, virtual reality, the wars in Syria, Yemen, the genocide in West Papua, their expressions and their opinions are suspiciously blank.

Do we only have enough love for one cause? What makes us think the suffering of one party is any different to the suffering of another?

When I decided to do a bit of research about the person heading the Royal Commission, Dyson Heydon, I noticed that he was born in Canada, but it was only when I decided that perhaps Wikipedia wasn’t enough research that I found that he wasn’t some Canadian boat person but rather the son of a public servant working overseas who’d married his Canadian secretary.

We stand with Coonana

I am hoping to raise funds to help Annette Paul, an Indigenous Australian living in Coonana; a remote community that the Western Australian government has cancelled all funding to.

Due to these funding cuts the community has no water and no power. The school has closed down, the community shop has closed down, and the health centre has also been forced to close down.
