Zionism, where is your heart?

December 4, 2014 - 17:41 -- Admin

A poem, as more and more people are pondering the future of Zionism. That which was a call to the minds of the young hoping to live a life anew in a new country has been replaced by racial hatred, bias and acrimony. Next year’s elections may see a further descent into the abyss of apartheid led self destruction. Zionism Zionism, where is your heart? A child’s back in crosshairs, A woman’s home bulldozed, Ten […]

Democracy Enwrapped in Terror’s Shroud

November 2, 2014 - 17:10 -- Admin

In the last few weeks, the Tony Abbott government has introduced a number of measures that will have a lasting effect on public and individual liberty. No individual may make any comment whatsoever on a matter that is declared to be in the interest of national security. There is no limit of what type of area may be so declared. Nor is there any effective mechanism to change a declaration, once it has been made.

Space Junk: Background to Spy Thriller, Aeron

September 23, 2014 - 23:53 -- Admin

There is a section of my spy thriller Aeron that is about harpooning space junk. In the book the harpoon is used to attack a military communication satellite. It was not all fiction. The basis of that part of the book was an article on BBC News titled UK design to ‘harpoon’ old satellites. This article gives some background and brings space junk harpooning up to date.

Pennies for Your e-Book? Amazon Hachette Dispute Continues

September 23, 2014 - 18:51 -- Admin

Five weeks ago I wrote an article about the dispute between Amazon and Hachette. What’s happened since? Well, a week may be a long time in politics, but five weeks it seems is not a long time in this dispute. The only real change is that the chance of Amazon winning has increased. The Bookseller has an article Authors United threatens next Amazon move that was published in 5 September.

Spring, IS, Life, Death – a Poem

September 21, 2014 - 12:23 -- Admin

It is Spring in Australia, a time the Ozzy bush celebrates with flowers and the renewal of life. This poem is inspired by spring and seeks to contrast its beauty with Tony Abbott’s decision to embrace war, the very antithesis of life. War against ISIS (IS, ISL) whose culture and religious beliefs he and the US make no attempt to understand. Spring: A Time of Life, A Time of Death Spring.

RFID and People Tracking: Background For My Next Book

September 9, 2014 - 12:15 -- Admin

As part of a background study for my next book, I had a look at Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) devices. Many articles were five or six years old, reflecting a burst of interest at that time. One was new, and was more than a little worrying. It looked at the prevalence of RFID devices implanted into people apparently without their knowledge.

Gaza: How Can An Australian Tweet Its Soul?

August 26, 2014 - 11:06 -- Admin

I wrote a tweet just now: “How can an Australian Tweet the soul of Gaza Capture the fear, the strength, the outrage, the sorrow? But Tweet I must. in total support.” I have no memory, no experience, no understanding. So I resort to poetry and do the best I can. Tis Morning Here Is My Light My Soul Tis morning The sun rises in an ever blueing sky Birds call Waves break gently on the […]

Asylum Seekers: No Clouds Were In The Sky

August 24, 2014 - 19:49 -- Admin

Australia’s asylum seekers policy for people reaching Australia by boat is based on one objective. That is to make the conditions in the mandatory prisons worse than the conditions from which asylum seekers have fled. The policy includes encouraging people to return to the country they left by paying them money after only a cursory attempt to discover if they are true refugees.
