eBook Library: eBooks in Australian Libraries

August 23, 2014 - 23:54 -- Admin

The possibility of borrowing an ebook from your local library is relatively new in Australia. Each individual library in the various States and Territories can then implement an ebook library within these guidelines as they see fit. The system uses a commercial eBook supplier called OverDrive. OverDrive OverDrive Inc was founded Cleveland, Ohio in 1886.

Azure, Post Traumaic Stress Disorder, A Poem

August 21, 2014 - 23:44 -- Admin

The deep blue semi-precious stone lapis lazuli has been mined in North East Afghanistan for some 9,000 years. The colour of the stone is reflected in the English word azure. In this poem I use the brilliance of the stone’s colour as a medium to explore the post traumatic stress disorder. For those who have served in Afghanistan and in many other of our world’s ever frequent wars.

August 17, 2014 - 00:33 -- Admin

The first time I saw Afghanistan I was wearing a borrowed shirt. It wasn’t a particularly attractive shirt, being a faded pale blue with buttons that were beginning to turn yellow. Made of 100 % nylon it was more than somewhat sweaty and sticky even in late November. It was 1978. Zia-ul-Haq had just become President after declaring martial year in the previous year.

If You Dare: A Short Story

August 17, 2014 - 00:05 -- Admin

I wake in the dark. There are the typical sounds of night: rats scurrying on the roof, the occasional cry of an owl. There is no breathing from next to me in the bed. There are only a few more hours before it […]
