The beach walk – a poem

June 5, 2017 - 05:58 -- Admin

The beach walk

The sea’s sure sings your name
I hear it as I walk
As we used to walk
Along the beach
Not long ago

I remember the salt smell
The wind gentle in its telling
And your stride slowing
As you said hello to those
You did not know

Your smile leapt to them
Then swept back again
And captured the terrain
Of dogs on leashes
And babies in prams
Led by owners
Or parents

Batter down the richest door

Batter down the richest door

Mateship sailed, soiled,
The myth of men,
Of outback fuckers
In a world of cities
And out of luckers

The equality of fools
Of shared nothing
The solidarity of tools
Honed on the loneliness
Of space

The great white plains
That exist in heads alone
Explain too much
And so cannot be

She rises the moon

She rises the moon

Every month God bleeds

His needs, unmanned

Her deeds, at hand

The intersex of love

Is caught,

Between the two

This She knew

And wild walked the side

Until His feet bled,

Well, heeled

Between the end

And the felt

Stood potential

Drained to gain

Renewed the fame

Again, and again

She rises the moon
