You cannot make this shit up. Senator Pauline Hanson has criticised the Australian Tax Office (where I used to work) for its decision to install squat toilets to accommodate some of its staff and their usual toilet positioning. According to the ATO, 20% of its staff are from non-English speaking backgrounds.
The Immigration Minister, Peter Dutton, has once again shamed himself and disgraced his office with unsubstantiated, ill-considered and offensive claims about refugees says the Refugee Action Coalition Sydney.
The Minister is quoted as telling 2GB radio, “Some people have even gone to the extent of self-harming and people have self-immolated in an effort to get to Australia. Certainly some have made false allegations.”
I thought I would include some of my unpublished Canberra Times’ letters to show the degeneration of the newspaper from the Fyshwick Pravda (always an overstated claim by hyperventilating conservative politicians) to a liberal’s version of The Australian. Of course it is not just the refusal to publish my letters.
