While you sip your morning brew, bracing for the day, contemplate literary badass Honoré de Balzac who pumped out the wordage fueled by fifty shots of black gold every day. Until his entire cardiovascular system exploded out through his eyeballs like the tentacles of Cthulhu.

The old TWA terminal at JFK airport is being redeveloped as a hotel. I've never been there. Chances are neither have you, even if you're as well travelled as Monster Yuppy. It's been closed for over a decade, but unusually in the US it hasn't been demolished and replaced with some aesthetically worthless commerce box.

Firefly/Serenity

A couple years ago – to be truthful, probably a whole passle o' years ago now – I bought me the DVD of Joss Whedon"s Firefly. There was only one series made before it was shit-canned by Fox and I"d wanted to watch it when it first went to air. Whedon"s first outing post Buffy/Angel and spaced based sci-fi western to boot. What"s not to love?

The ratings, apparently.
