I find myself temporarily lonesome in the house for the next two weeks. Jane's down in Sydney for work, and both kids are travelling overseas together. So it’s just me, the dogs, the cats, and all the manfood I can eat.
I kicked things off yesterday with my traditional “welcome to bachelorhood” ceremony: cooking and consuming my own body weight in chilli beef and beans. The consumption will continue until the slow cooker is empty—but it won’t stay empty for long. Once the chilli’s gone, I’ll be filling it up with lamb korma.
I’m also hoping to get a bit of extra writing done while I’ve got the place to myself. I’m having skin cancer removed tomorrow morning, so that’ll keep me away from ju-jitsu for a couple of weeks. Bit of a drag, that—but it also means my evenings are free. And since I’m here on my own, what else am I going to do besides write explosions and eat chilli beef?
